What would be the first thing to do!Would a performance exhaust and chip be a good place to start! It's an AU3.

bellky, May 5, 11:35am
Is that the 220kw one! Usual with these is air filter, and exhaust. Not sure about chip.

mears69, May 5, 11:35am
sorry not really regarding a V8 but with all turbo vehicles i have had, the way to gain extra power is air flow, so exhaust, air filter, extractors. there are kits in the V8 magazines you can buy for Holdens that offer HP increases they focus around air intakes etc.

i would go free flow exhaust, performace air filter, extractors

chromis, May 5, 12:04pm
It is.
Thanks for the replies so far people.

I could be smart and suggest buying an XR6 Turbo :)

Seriously though they respond well to a good exhaust, headers and intake with tune to suit.
Depending on your budget there are some very sexy supercharger kits available that wake them up too

mears69, May 5, 12:43pm
eastern automotive in East tamaki install the above supercharger kits , would be awesome, or you could go the whole hog and put twin turbos in.

rkauto, May 5, 12:45pm
check out chiptorque

patiki1, May 5, 1:07pm
Put a ls1 in it.

alimac1, May 5, 1:11pm
Supercharger

bellky, May 5, 1:15pm
Have a look at the title; it says INcrease performance.

rayzor14, May 5, 1:52pm
FFS, the man asked for advice on INCREASING performance.

petemun, May 5, 2:08pm
yuk dude, were you wasted when you bought it

petemun, May 5, 2:20pm
yes I am stripping a integra I got given because I don't want it.

You fail

bellky, May 5, 2:27pm
But you own a Skyline!

petemun, May 5, 3:20pm
Nope I do not own a skyline.

try again !

ninja_man, May 5, 4:01pm
exhaust and intake first. Then maybe a cam upgrade and tune!

cowboy110, May 5, 4:20pm
Like ninja_man says, Intake and exhaust."Let the beast breathe"I can't say I've had too much to do with the "F" word V8s but if they're anything like Holden LS1 V8s, they are starved for air.Looking at a few here on TM they seem to be just as restricted. Cold air induction and a decent exhaust system should fix the problem.Simply putting a "performance" chip in won't do much.

chromis, May 5, 9:41pm
Thank you all. Now I know where start. Breathe, breath, breath seems to be the consensus.

NZTools, May 6, 7:44am
Its reals simple. The more air you can cram into the combustion chambers, the more fuel you can squirt in there. The more fuel and air you have in there, the more power it will make.

bellky, May 6, 7:55am
Yip the chip won't do much as these cars are MAF metered and adjust the fuel according to the volume of air coming in.

bigfatmat1, May 6, 10:57am
lol

adjust to a predetermined values. the chip changes these values

bellky, May 6, 11:04am
Thanks for that answer; wouldn't have seen your profile/pic otherwise.

Also, I don't think you know what you're talking about. These are MAF cars, not TPS cars.

chromis, May 6, 11:35am
So I guess my next question would have to be.
Where's the best place in Christchurch to get any work done!

purple666, May 6, 11:45am
Supercharger and run it dedicated LPG.

supernova2, May 6, 11:52am
I say BFM would know more about automotive electronic things than just about anybody in these threads.
