Typical derp council attitude. Guy has been to hell and back to get that car, now has to sell it and they play they "you're not special, can't make exceptions" card yet they may of been doing the dirty on him for years with his property valuations.

I wonder who shot the Yakuza boss! Was it him or 1 of his mobster mates! lol. Seriously thou Why not re mortgage the house and keep the car! Seems like its worth more than $$ to him:)

bitsy_boffin, May 5, 11:34pm
My question is. just how stupid do you have to be to send your extremely valuable car to a (potential!!) new owner in Japan without getting paid for it first!

net_oz, May 6, 3:40am
Stupid enough to also not pay your rates. But then again, the council is pretty stupid to have let it get to this stage.

I reckon he should just take the million he's been offered and pay his bills. Doubt the council would give me much leeway if I was 6 years behind on the rates. He reminds me of someone else we saw just recently trying to get a pie high amount for an old car.

Bank needs sercurity + income to grant a loan. He may have all the security in the world but its highly unlikely his pension would meet the income criteria.

On another subject, I am glad the government is stepping in and stopping the council stupidity of raising rates over and above inflation. Anyone in council who is unable to understand the basic math behind why rates increases above inflation are unsustainable should be sacked immediately.

Council's are a bit like the Police, I have had a look behind the scenes of both and the incompetence, lack of organisation and down right stupidity is jaw dropping.

Hahhaahha , anyone want a covered stadium like we have in Dunedin.build it and they will come, mmmmmmm!
These councillors do what ever the hell they want much like anyone elected to power!

Our stupid council is trying to spen 3 odd mill on upgrades to a swimming pool in the middle of a swamp.I'd hate to see how they budget at home.

This bloke is bludging off everyone else in the Tasman District by not paying his rates for so long. The locals should flip him the bird as he goes down the road in his DB1.

pollymay, May 6, 1:39pm
They bludged off him with incorrect rating. My dad owns a 1/4 acre in pukekohe, years back the council took part of it to put a road through with a contract saying they give it back if it doesn't go ahead. 10 years later they finally can the road from the town plan, my dad wants to build on the property so approches them and says they have to give it back. They flat up say no and "prove it in court or pay $14,000 which is its valuation" After a short battle and plans waiting to go ahead my dad has to cough up 14 large for a situation they created. Then when he goes to build they won't subdivide the property cause they got their back up at him fighting them.

They are a bunch of petty morons that aren't doing their job right, everytime I've come up against them they are either trying to extort or otherwise do a bunch of stuff that would be considered underhanded if they were not the almighty council.

You know how your life would change if this guy pays his rates! Zero, nada, zip. By paying you'd just be making the pool of money taken in by a bunch of self importants that spend on stupid things on your behalf even bigger so they can spend it on something else that will make you whine. As far as I'm concerned they can hold off till they at least sort out the property valuation, I'm pretty plainly disgusted with how many councils act. Attack me for that if you like but I see no reason to trust those idiots, they couldn't balance their own chequebook nevermind an entire area.
