Faster and better handling than a Ferrari etc at a quarter of the price. http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/motoring/6873332/Nissan-to-build-baby-GT-R Watch the video.

Better handling than a Ferrari is a bit of a rubbish statement. I'm betting that a 458 Italia would handle much better than this.

richardmayes, May 7, 12:57pm
I hear a Nissan GT-R is almost as fast as a Ferrari or a Lamborghini also.

And yet, people continue to buy Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

It's almost like they *don't care* how amazing the latest amazing Nissan is.

I guess there's no accounting for taste, eh!

tonyrockyhorror, May 7, 1:09pm
I'm no 'Euro lover' but I'm not easily impressed by a small powerful car beating larger more powerful and considerably more expensive cars on a tight, rough street circuit.

esprit, May 7, 1:12pm
Corrected, for accuracy.

tonyrockyhorror, May 7, 1:13pm
Fair call.

freedomaira320, May 7, 1:18pm
A Ferrari buyer won't be in the least bit interested that there is a Japanese car that outperforms their car. It is still a Ferrari, and the other car is still a Nissan. End of story.

attitudedesignz, May 7, 1:37pm
Didn't realise "handling" ment being sideways around every corner, i always thought "sticking" to the road was a BIG part of "handling"

Next thing will be the "It's faster around the 'ring than a .blah blah blah."

At the end of the day it's an ugly curvy box of a DATSUN.

fiatracer, May 7, 1:40pm
yep, but car ownership IS about taste and preference. Have been around loads of Nissan GTRs. they are faaaast, sure, but as an object they leave me cold. Have been around an in Mitsi Evo 10 too. likewise it's faaast, way faster than other cars I like, but would I want one! No. Ugly. Unappealing.

fiatracer, May 7, 1:42pm
. a 1500cc Nissan Lucido does pretty much every single thing I can think of better than my MGB. but which would I rather own and drive!

fordkiwi27, May 7, 1:43pm
its a marketing thing ! not a real race ffs

jkm, May 7, 2:00pm
Didnt look like the Ferrari was being driven as hard as the Nissan!

foxdonut, May 7, 2:06pm
I see sales for the Aerial Atom put Ferrari out of business four years ago.

Oh, wait.

trdbzr, May 7, 2:20pm
Ferrari's, Lambo's, Maserati's etc are all status symbols. Yes it would be embarrassing for some Ferrari owner when a Nissan outperforms their 'beast', but at the end of the day, its still just a status symbol.

thejazzpianoma, May 7, 4:18pm
A cheap Ariel atom has been able to out handle most of the supercars which cost many times its price for years, lotus were doing it before Ariel came along.

Super and Hyper cars are about an awful lot more than handling. Its the whole experience, sound, torque, power delivery, refinement, liniage and a sense of occasion.

There are cheap shopping baskets that can out perform our Alfa Spyder but they are no where near the "experience". Thats why I often come back to find people admiring the car while the shopping baskets go unnoticed.

thejazzpianoma, May 7, 4:19pm
Whoops, sorry just spotted your post and see you beat me to the point!

kazbanz, May 7, 4:28pm
Im not a euro lover (unless you count that night with this very accomodating italian lass) but even so that was just a silly advertising blurb.
Now if you had put a couple of euro hot hatches on the car park/ cart track with the jute it would have been a fairer comparisson

trogedon, May 7, 4:32pm
You da man!

foxdonut, May 7, 4:34pm
Lets not argue that the Jute isn't a rocket ship. With 500ish horsepower on that body its going to be nippy no doubt and put a lot of Euro supercars and American muscle cars to shame "performance wise"

However - "bang for the buck" etc!

Its made to order, so its not exactly going to be making a big splash, no more than someone privately taking a Ford Transit van and sticking a Jag 220 TWR engine in the boot or shoehorning a Tipo F131 V8 into a Fiat Sedicivalvole Panda.

attitudedesignz, May 7, 4:45pm
Or an Espace body over a Renault F1 car LOL.

msigg, May 7, 4:57pm
It may have a nissan name but made in england, designed in england so must be euro. Plenty of buyers want it.

asa50, May 7, 6:51pm
$600000 USD! It may be fast but that money for Multipla ugly!

richardmayes, May 7, 6:57pm
I corrected your spelling of "lineage".
Absolutely perfect comment in every other respect.

Jazz for PM.

Drop round to my place next weekend, and we'll sort the lucido out with my $18 angle grinder and $98 stick welder from Bunnings.

pollymay, May 7, 7:38pm
I could build a faster car in my basement out of a kitcar set. It's still a car I built in my basement
