How much does it cost to get a tow bar put on

beki07, May 10, 9:38am
Sorry for the stream of questions over the past week.

Found a Mitsubishi legnum that looks pretty good, only problem it doesn't have a tow bar and that is a must for us.

Anyone have a general idea of how much it costs to get one put on!

thanks guys

beki-call takapuna mufflers and towbars. It should cost $400 fitted and wired up

If it is an automatic/tiptronic legnum (as mentioned in your last thread), also factor in the cost of a transmission cooler. Unless you are doing only very light duty towing, a transmission cooler is needed for most automatic cars and only your big Aussie Falcons and such with the heavy duty tow package come with a transmission cooler as standard. A cooler will cost about $200 fitted.

For my 1997 Honda Accord I just paid $100 for a second hand one with wiring and a ball from a well knowen Honda wreckers in Auckland. My mechanic fitted it for $120.Very happy lol.
A new one for my car was around $750 fitted.

I guess it comes down to the skill involved to make it plus a rate for the time to mske it, plus the time to fit it and wire it.and then add a margin.
How long did it take you to make! How long would it take to fit and wire!
