Does anyone know why a mercedes e230 would be driving along and then lose 80% of it's power then will make it to the side of road you turn it off and turn it back on again and it goes fine! it used to only do it when you would come to a stop know does it all the time. It also has a very strong lag when taking off at intersections you can put your foot 90% down and it will have very little pick up for the first few seconds. any ideas what this could be!

Do these cars have knock sensors! Sound like it's going into some sort of 'limp-home' mode!

fuel possibly, once had a toyota that did this finally worked out it was the fuel cap air hole was blocked an creating a vacuum in the tank

ahh that could be it. I will look at the fuel tonight. also seems to me making a cracking kind of loud sound when it finally clicks into power.!

My car is doing this to and i have no fuel cap on the car! could this be the cause, its literally doing exactly what the original post says. I know is hould of replaced it but its been off for like 6 months now. If that could be would it be just a matter of putting a cap on or do i have to do something else!

what year is it it could be caused by biodegrading wiring loom early to mid nighteen 90s are equiped with selfdestructing wiring bio looms need replacing if it is the case about 2500$ cheaper when you get em remade with old plugs

you would have to drain all the water in the tank from the rain also when fitting new cap

I believe fuel caps are now checked in the WOF procedure.Not having one may present problems.

Common problems on e230 the air flow meter, the ign coil packs. get it scanned. that will most likely find the problem the quickest.
