pressed in. In my E30's front arms. Who does this! I am in Hamilton. But unsure who to ring for a quote. Would any odd mechanic do it or could they send me in the right direction or is there companies that do these specific jobs!

Most garages/mechanics will either have a press or access to one

I borrowed a bmwtool to do this job once, awesome piece of kit didnt have to remove the arms to remove or install balljoints, I have also done them in a press both ways work. Basicly any workshop should be able to press them, as long as they have a good selection of press tools. From memory theres a band accross them that needs 2 cut outs on the press tool. Price fitting them at the dealer/service agent as the time saved by not removing the lower arms may be enough to justify the usually higher labour rate.

Generally, someone handy enough with a decent hammer can get them out without the need for a press either :P Warranty Australia was wandering how our dealership could do both front balljoints in .3 of an hour when everyone else is doing them in 1.5 . they didn't like it when we told them with a hammer!

Did you price a whole arm! Usually not much, if any, dearer than the joint and a whole lot easier.

Am still yet to price new arms. I am just trying to slowly recondition various items. Got prices for new joints so just need a price to do it then I can compare price for new arms compared to recond. Cheers for the replies.

Buy your BMW bits from Ebay in the USA. landed here they work out at just over half the NZ price.

If the Ball itself needs to come out of it's socket, go to ADL.
