Im looking to buy a sr20de motor and add a turbo to it but need help on what type of car a should go for!Any ideas will help, Looking for something cheap, What would suit for that motor!want to do it up,Thanks

the early shape s14's are the cheapest. then bolt on the factory sr20det turbo, manifold ect, keep de injectors and use the de ecu running low boost. cheapest way

You need to do some research. look up what vehicles were fitted with the SR and choose from that list.
There are rwd, fwd and awd options

a18a, May 17, 2:37pm
and remember you can only choose 2 options. cheap, fast, or reliable

racing123456789, May 17, 2:44pm
busy doing research now, what would the effort be puting a sr20 ina diffrent make car!eg. a ae86 corolla!Or just a waste of time!

andrea_w, May 17, 2:48pm
That's where it gets complicated.
Wiring needs to be done.
Parts need to be fabricated
Nothing will "bolt up"

Budget a lot of time and money

if your doing that your best to just go 4agte if $ is a factor

Good point, If i wana build some kind of racing/track car will the body need to be registered and on the road!Or can i get a car body from a wrecker yard! Thanks for the help

If you get it caged then you can have an authority card and it wont need to be road registered. It will need to be trailered to events though

why dont you just buy a sr20det!

philltauranga, May 17, 5:11pm
Go for the GTIR they are cheap now and go hard with awsome handling, get one thats going with wof and do the mods you can afford. They are a ba55tard to work on, not much room to work in the engine bay. Ive got one and love it, they corner like a cat on carpet and from the factory they have the same power to weight ratio as the godzilla- really fast when you put a big exhaust and wind up to 10-13psi boost which is safe to do on the standard motor.
Compared to the silvia the motors are quite differnt, more solid internals, solid lifters, quad throttle body and bigger quad injectors I think, few other differnces in the motor.
Cheap, fast, reliable, good handling, look ok, not very common nowdays, and way less stuffing around trying to turbo a block that wasnt designed for one, and easier than trying to put it into another type of car.

i used to have one and they are awesome, as philltauranga says they are pretty cheap, i bought mine for 7k it was pushing out 300bhp at the wheels on a dyno.

the only downside is finding parts but engines such as the one out of the bluebird sss have a few interchangable bits ie the radiator.

Seems to me the better question is "why don't you just buy a 200sx" since the guy wants to buy an SR20, then a turbo, then a car to put it in.

Well said pretty much except the part about using the SR20DE ECU. Just save the extra $ and buy a Link G4 or similar aftermarket ECU as you will defanatly save money in the long run and it will make the car so much better to drive!

1ollie, May 17, 11:15pm
Unless you can do it all yourself you are going to spend 2x as much or even more money puting it in most other cars especialy non Nissans

1ollie, May 17, 11:17pm
NO thats incorrect! you would easyly spend way more than a SR20DE+T for less performance on a 4AGTE setup!

1ollie, May 17, 11:18pm
Yeah if you want to spend lots more than a 4AGTE to get it working

Thanks for all the advice.I have a hard decision to make
