Looking for a NZ new manual hatchback, not really wanting to spend more than 13k (or is this unrealistic). Looking at engine size of 1.8 as it needs to be able to go up a few hills when we venture out of the city. Any suggestions! Corolla seems to be leading the pack but want to make sure I've covered all the bases.

Nothing wrong with a Corolla, although "some" people will tell you otherwise.
