appleman71, Jul 2, 7:20pm
Leaky fram

franc123, Jul 2, 9:06pm
Defective parts are their problem not yours, I certainly wouldn't be paying for the job until it was done properly.Even worse considering that you requested that a genuine unit was fitted.

johnf_456, Jul 2, 9:08pm
Simple don't pay

jono2912, Jul 2, 10:15pm
Maybe they didn't check the surface was clean, and left the old rubber ring in.

Don't pay until you are happy with the invoice, and the job done.

Yes, wont be paying .Also sick of going to workshops and paying tradesmans rates ,$70 + an hour ,for a young pimplehead to work on my vechiles and screw it up.Told them any more comebacks i will bill them for my time! Second thoughts wont be going back, will take my 4 vechiles else where.Any one suggest a shop on the shore that can service cars and trucks HONESTLY AND PROPERLY!

appleman71, Jul 3, 4:40pm
no!

bae13, Jul 3, 5:34pm
and whats wrong with charging $70 per hour!
government is to blame,
minimum wage goes up so all wages have to go up,
ACC to Pay
taxes to pay
prices have gone up because of higher rents/leases
4 weeks in holiday pay to find during the year
price of power, phone and internet services,
workshops paying for data, ie fluid levels, oil viscositys (cant do the job with out the info anymore, not everycar takes the same oil)
has to dispose of the old oil, the filter,
has used a hoist that they have to pay for
eftpos machines
accountant fees
rates
insurances
office equipment to buy ie paper, ink
once all these are paid the business has to make money!

get in the real world mate

appleman71, Jul 3, 5:48pm
i dont mind paying for a trades man,but like i have said i am over paying tradesman rates for a pimplehead kid to screw up on my vechiles.Yes i am in the real world ! Still running my own business for the last 16 yearsso i know all about it.,mate!

carmedic, Jul 3, 5:53pm
That??

rkauto, Jul 3, 6:53pm
been using fram filters for 15 + years, never had leaky one yet

mugenb20b, Jul 3, 6:58pm
I did, on my Isuzu diesel, never bought Fram again after that. And yes, it was installed correctly at the time.

appleman71, Jul 3, 7:22pm
yes,isuzu diesel same leaky fram

richardmayes, Jul 3, 7:30pm
Nothing. I have no problem at all with paying garages those sorts of rates, provided they find and fix the problem, and work efficiently.

But when you are paying professional rates for a professional job, you assume it is a given that the basics will be done right. (New filters not leaking, new bushes in the right way around, etc etc.)

The point is about paying a mechanic that much to mess it up

bae13, Aug 26, 4:02am
may not be mechanics fault, may have a batch of filters that are poor,
70 buck maynot be tradesman rate but the general rate the workshop charges out,

it just seems everyone thinks they get stiffed by a tradesperson but everyone can justify what they charge in thier own fields and feel they are giving good value for money.
i didnt mean to come across as defending your mechanic, i just feel the automotive trade is seen as a place where low skill is involved, but in relaity cars a alot more complex than they were 5 years ago, and a world of difference than 10 years ago.Yet we are suposed to charge a job like its 1995 again.
