I hear this is a straight swap of parts only. i:e, lights, gaurds, bonnet and bumper.Does anyone know if this is correct. The BAs do share the same platform so maybe it is. And I have a funny feeling there was one that was done on TM not that long ago. No I have no real interest in doing it but know someone who wants an AU but like many dosn't like the standerd front ends. Plus hes a panel beater so wouldnt be an issue to do. Parts a cheap as as well.

If he's a panelbeater then fair game. I think there are some small differences. I know the platform for the BA is Based off the AU, but it does have some changes. I'm pretty sure the BA is a bit longer and wider then the AU, but not sure if that is structurally or just panels/cosmetics.
Being a panelbeater, it'd probably be easiest for him to get a front cut off a BA and mate it up to the AU.

Yep there was a guy somewhere up in the North Island selling a blue wagon - AU with BA front. From memory it was a bolt on swap or small changes needed.the wagon ended up in Chch, cant tell & looks just like a BA until you notice/pick up on the AU dashboard

The conversion is reasonably straightforward, a friend fitted a BA1 XR one about 6 or 7 years ago to a damaged AU2 Futura, IIRC the radiator support panel had to be modded at either end where it meets the guards, either material removed or added in, one of the two.The headlight loom used was an adapted AU XR one from memory and the other gain with using the BA XR front instead of an XT or Futura one was of course the foglights. The result was very pleasing.

I think the commonality between the AU & BA, panelwise is the crease line and doors, the roof has even been flatten for the BA, so even the front and rear screens might be different, I could be wrong.
