From Puke to AKL

Did anyone raise the topic of sharing petrol of driving from one place to another for routine trips! would save quite a lot fo everyday driving, say from Puke to AKL. Petrol is so expensive these days.

I find that never actually works

I go from Pukekohe to Mt Wellington mon-fri, and the best fuel saving measure I have found (as I have a thirsty car) is to leave extra early (5:00 - 5:30am) which means I get a smooth consistant run all the way to town, and gives me lots of time to eat breakfast in peace before workmates show up :) The puke to akl run seems to have way more than its fair share of goon drivers and complete dickheads, so never an easy trip when its busy!

Catch the4 train it is quicker and far cheaper.

Yip I do the Pukekohe to Mt wellington run every morning as well. As stated above start early, leave early. Althou, I do rock a K11 March as a work car so even the smallest gap is a winner for me lol.

Train - quicker, I doubt that. Time you train to Papakura from Pukekohe and they start as 7:15 I think and only a couple. Then wait 30mins for the Papakura to Brittomart train. Already at work by then.

Train service can be a bit tricky, from past experience it is only worth it if you are willing to shell out big dough for a folding bicycle, but perhaps times have changed since I last used the train! :)

cuda.340, May 29, 5:20pm
train every 15 mins to the city from Papakura, 55 min trip, some days a car is faster, some days it's not.

hopie, May 30, 1:37pm
From Papakura to the city, yes. but there are only 2x trains that go from Pukekohe to Papakura in the mornings.

No, there are 5 that will get you to Britomart prior to a little after 8am.
