The link is to an ad which makes the outlandish claim that has been used for the title, I think the OP is intimating that such a claim is spurious.

Imagine how loud those 3 subs going at the same time are! I wouldn't wanna be in the car with those cranked up lol. My single 1000wrms pioneer sub is loud enough to hurt the ears & blurr my vision if I turned it up loud enough.

Pioneer TS-W5000SPL I was intrigued - so that's the model number. They did cost US$900 each apparently. Not 2500 watts RMS, spec is 2000 watts "nominal power" 5000 watts max.Claim is spl of 170db, but that's about as meaningless as the "nominal power" claim. Efficiency is only 88dB w/m so I guess you'd want a pretty grunty amp to drive them.

Pioneer Premier TS-W5102SPL. Might be this one.Its either wrong infomation or wrong photo. This one retails for $649 US.

Yep - I didn't see that one. They look much the same.2500 watts RMS!I very much doubt it.Same inefficient 88dB/w/m efficiency.
It would be interesting to see what theoretical cone excursion would be at 2500 wRMS for say a 40Hz sine wave on a 30cm speaker.Probably about a foot.

Nothing wrong with a sub doing its job correctly. Which is resonating the waves your 'good speakers' will never produce. It does't have to go doof doof.

True, but many don't do the job correctly, and instead of producing low frequencies accurately, they produce far too many second harmonics, and go. doof doof.

I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from someone that can't string a proper sentence together. When i see txt speak in auctions I run a mile. In any case, 2500 watts through one of those and it wouldn't last too long, guarantee it.

subs are for the "look at me factor".people who sit at the lights playing doof doof music thinking they are cool are muppets imo.

I still reckon the most dumbest sub seller award goes to guy that was trying to sell off 4 sony subs and a few sony amps on here a few years back. He constantly claimed that it was "so loud that he was banned from spl competitions because no one else was able to compete with him", and then proceeded to pull a 'Spike' when everyone called out his BS.
