bring back the Morry Minor or something similar to get us from A to B at a reasonable cost .I think SOME modern technology is a bit of a monster :-)

i think there are a lot of people that would jump at the chance to buy a very basic car with out all the electronic crap.
My understanding is why this will never be done is the need for emissions control.

Not many people would want a vehicle without all the so called extras. It's a bit like a house and what's in it these days compared to one in the 60's.

Fuel efficiency too.
Something like a new VW Golf is horribly complex (direct injection, turbo AND supercharger) but you can't argue with the results.

Im sure there would be a market for them none the less.

Yep, of course you are right. But then some thing like the old toyota corolla 1300cc used to run on the smell of an oily rag with out all that crap. Oh to have a brand new 1980 toyota corrolla.I would take one over a fancy emissions controlled, engine bayed full of hoses and wiring and turbo styled car any day of the week.

No so much the NEED as the DESIRE by a small vocal minority.

Plus their owners for a large part thereof just get in and drive them and are totally and blissfully unaware of the condition of the vehicles they are driving until they "conk out" on them.simple terms = lack of maintenance, nuff said. I saw that repeatedly years ago when I was in my motor trade days and suffice to say things haven't changed much since then .more likely even worse due to the larger numbers of cars and "jump in and drive" owners with absolutely no clues mechanically what so ever. It always amazes me just how dumb or blissfully unaware folks are when things actually do go wrong and they just don't admit and don't understand it as being largely their fault, though there are legitimate exceptions of course also.
