Hey guys TOTALLY off the motoring ideals but I gotta ask. your opinions here please. I don't celebrate my birthday. Havent done for about 15 years. By that I mean I REALLY dislike celebrating it. Now I figure heck its my birthday -surely on that one day of the year my wishes should be respected. But Mrs Kaz utterly refuses to accept that. To the point of bitter arguments every year. She feels its being totally selfish and I should allow it to be celebrated. What is your opinion ! Im asking the same question elsewhere so It'll be interesting to see the different opinions from blokes and women

While it is odd not to celebrate it, each to their own I guess :) It's your day so she should respect how you like to spend it. Happy birthday too Kaz. if you've mentioned it here your birthday has got to be around this time :p I've recently had my 30th, I took a bunch of mates out fishing. it was my day so I did something me and a few close mates could enjoy

nahh Bday aint till wendsday. Honest truth--3 birthdays in a row I spent in Hospital close to death. 3 birthgdays good freinds died the weekend before or after. So my birthday in my mind has become asociated with pretty intense pain and suffering. So I REALLY want it to go past unmarked and unoticedfor a year or ten

If I was you I'd want to work past that hurt and get to somewhere where it meant something happy to me and my family.

Was at an 80th recently and the celebrity was presented with aneat looking(OBE) badge-.over bluddy eighties. When one gets the OBE then you can stop celebrating.

I guess I can understand why you associate your birthday with pain and suffering, but on the other hand your family love you and want to do something nice. So yeah, compromise and do something private and low key perhaps!

Sounds like Mrs Kaz has a few more brains than you??

Are you a man or a mouse! It's your right to not adhere to ridiculous traditions such as the "womb escape day".
I don't specifically celebrate mine - never have since after I was a kid. We might go out for dinner somewhere and joke it's because it's my birthday, but we go out for dinner all the time anyway, so we know it isn't really why we're there.
I think most people in this country 'celebrate' purely as an excuse to binge drink and then brag to their mates about how they woke up in the gutter in a pool of someone else's vomit because they actually have nothing else they can talk about, which is really pretty sad.

Might be your day kaz, but its your wife and kids day also, to do something for you, go with the flow and enjoy it (o: Maybe help to remember your friends on a happy day 50ths don't come around every year (o: Cheers, Mark

I suppose when the number gets that high, it's easier to loose track.

Agree with above. I try to keep my birthday low key & not announce it to the world but I do acknowledge any birthday wishes etc. Its just another day to me.

I'm happy with some cards from the kids and a day to relax.Don't want parties / lots of presents.Kids like to celebrate parents birthdays and give them something (even a home made card). So I do it for them.Me, I'm happy for a day off work to kick back and relax :-)

Lol.I'm the same Kaz although for different reasons. B/day is the day after Xmas day and on more than a few occasions it was forgotten about altogether due to Xmas gifting, packing for the getaway which was quite a major for the folks as there were 11 of us.anyways when it was remembered I was given my Xmas and b/day prezzie as one no extras.lol.saved Ma & Pa coin so made no difference to me as a kid and couldn't really be bothered with it since. By the way.I don't remember anyone elses b/day either ;) in fact I don't remember much at all.lol.

The least you could do is throw a big party for everyone else and don't go to it. We'll share the presents around.
