So is running LPG cheaper than .

running diesel! I have read that the new LPG Injection systems are returning similar power as petrol but using approximately 2% more LPG to do it. I think that came out right. I know that petrol is up around the $2.10 mark, I pay $1.45 for diesel and get a little further per litre than I would with petrol and gas is about $1.20! Not sure. Thoughts!

yes i probably will get my punto on to lpg for long distance trips in the next year or so.you need the injected system the other dump in manifold system use 20% more lpg then petrol so makes it a waste of time.

my work vanruns onLPG.The boss reckons it works out cheaper than diesel.

you need to forget about the price per litre (of all three) and look at the kms per dollar. diesel wins hands down

rover79, Jul 4, 9:00pm
In your equation, add about 50c per litre to your diesel for diesel mileage

injected lpg on a petrol car works out cheaper then diesel. lpg car running on old lpg only just is as good as diesel as it uses 20% more lpg not just 2% like injected lpg systems

I have a vehicle with LPG installed from new [1989] $20 dollars of LPG = 300Ks $20of petrol =200Ks, at that time, far smoother running and more power on LPG than petrol, has done 138000 on one oil change and one set of spark plugs, oil never even got dirty, oil presure as original. And the vehicle is a Lada Cossack

BUT you have to take into account the paybacktime . At 10,000 k a year it will be nearly 2.5 yearsin savings to pay it off (using the $5500 figure for that guys skyline)Only then are you starting to save$.Even longerif you borrow the money to do it . So you need to hang on to the car5 yearsto make any real saving.Assuming LPG/petrol price remains same . Deisel car would be better option
