Vehicle make model and year!
Replacing the bearings, diff head or complete assembly!
New or second hand unit going back in!
Changing ratio's or fixing a faulty unit!

It won't cost you hundeds or even 10's of thousands . but custom diff work will not come cheaply. Its heavy and dirty work that is often done in contortionist environs, Is this what you are asking or are you talking about a OEM replacement! If you are talking about 9"s. then I have had a bit of experience in sticking them into different applications.

Put up the link and you will get more advise.

Most likely a diff bearing noise, which you copuld fix by replacing the diff head with a second hand unit.
I guess approx $500 all up for a workshop to replace!
$200-300 for the head, 2-3 hrs labour and some diff oil.
You could get some part prices yourself if you know what the vehicle is.
