Ideas to stop boot seal leaking?

its probably rusted a hole under the rubber somwhere.dont use sealer with vinnigar or it will rust like hell, ms sealaflexbe what i use but find the real problem first . on some cars you can forget it altogather like a old p10 primera leaking from glued rear window in to the boot back to rear passanger floor. for example cost more to fix the the car was worth so he punched a hole in the floor .

ps the seal is to keep the wind out so unless there is a storm the boot should not leake . hence i told you above it be a rust hole somwhere.

Firstly workout where the leak is coming from. Put a helper in the boot with a torch and then hose the boot down and see where it leaks. Now you can do something about it.

no the water does not travel upwards . i guarantee you it is the law of phisics that it dont . the only reason how it could would be a blocked drain-point. otherwise it be rust . like i said rear window leaking will end up with water in the boot also tailight not sealing . get somone to confirm how the water enters the car and it wont be over a 1/2 inch lip.

Sorry, wrong.

Yes it does when it's raining hard enough, and the car is only even slightly out of shape.

If the water is flooding in the boot channel then it will find it's way up hill, and then push through a weak part of a boot rubber seal.

Take the seal off the lip and close it up with a pair of pliers or polygrips to make it bite harder. Failing that, get some 5x20mm foam tape and stick that on the surface that the seal mates with, in the hope that that little bit of extra pressure will help it seal.

It can leak up hill,

argg--Im pretty sure you guys have it totally backwards.
Boot seal isn't damaged . there isn't a rust hole. in the bootso why won't the boot seal "seal" To me the odvious answer is that the boot LIDisn't closing "hard" enough,is rusted in that spot-(the boot LID) .or is bent upwards at that spot.
So IMO the first place to look is the section of boot lid that lines up with the place the seal is leaking. It may need a bit of "persuasion"
If its not that then I'd say the boot catch needs to be moved down a couple of MM so theres more pressure on the seal

Take a block of wood and a big hammer and hit the low spot up a bit to seal the rubber to the boot. Maybe something has been dumped on the seal rail and bent it down a bit. Do not be a softy with it it can take a knock or two.

Quite possibly.

Could run a bead of windscreen sealeralong the boot lip were it touches theseal, bit maori but might work .
