Relisted due to time waster

More and more of these are occurring on car auctions .how many are genuine and how many are mates bidding to raise the bid and then no genuine bidders following .

carclan, Jun 11, 7:37pm
Just don't get involved, I find anyone that asks a question does not bid.

Actually I get a lot of time wasters on lots of things, currently out of some money thanks to one. I think they created an account to win the auction to see where it would end up then waited for a lower fixed offer when it fell over. I'm pretty annoyed.

I have bought several cars at auction after asking many questions.

Questions are only a problem for those who dont want to give answers.

People who are genuine pick up the phone and call. Tyre kickers ask about mundane details in the Q&A section.

+10 Totally agree

Bottom line is the whole car sale section here went to hell in a hand basket the moment a listing fee was introduced. The dollar reserve stuff is abused by sellers wanting maximum exposure without the risk associated with listing in that category, quite often there is a obvious out in their wording. I wouldn't advertise a vehicle on here nor buy one, it is very interesting to watch it though .

actually I must say I agree with you and bugal on this one -No not sitting on the fence. In my experience theres three types of question askers
1) Those too stupid to actually read the auction description
2)Those out to kill the bidding by asking "uncomfortable" questions.
3) genuine buyers who are looking for a bit of specific information I've forgotten to mention
with the first I ask them to READ the listing.
The secondiof its asking an opinion (how long will the tirees last fur mistah) I ask to come to view the vehicle to draw their own conclusions
I must say that the third tend to call rather than e mailing and I do my best to give them the info they need

havnt sold much on trade me but have often wondered if sellers should be able to restrict their auctions to bidders with 20 or even 50 trades, that may stop some of the shenanagins that go on.!

carclan, Jun 12, 8:47pm
I generally go for the classified's so I can ring and talk directly.

pollymay, Jun 12, 8:51pm
Person that messed me around got banned after messing around 2 other people in auctions. The end, good riddance.

kazbanz, Jun 13, 3:01am
Imust ask--was it a new trader or a zero rep trader!

r15, Jun 13, 6:08am
and if it wasn't, they will have a new account that will be

I once had a guy come and look over the car , spent an hour doing so , then went back home and started asking questions to which he knew the answers in an attemp to drive the price down , what a jerk. Just wasn't a fair way of attempting to do business. He stopped bidding way short of where the car got to in the auction so had no idea of its true value either.

amberjandal, Jun 13, 6:47am
In other countries private dealings are on the decline for this exact reason , people cant be bothered dealing with people who probably or potentialy cant be trusted. The same old story , a few ruining it for the majority.

budgel, Jun 13, 9:40am
One reason I ask questions on the auction itself is that it provides a record of the answers that a phone call doesnt. On anything local I would inspect in person.
