shelleigh, Jun 10, 1:04pm
That is stunning! The mosaic tiles are amazing.
Obviously a lot of work and care has gone into the restoration.

mugenb20b, Jun 10, 1:05pm
Oh, I see his missus fitted a window behind the driver's head.wonder what that's for.

casper35, Jun 10, 2:16pm
Awesome unit would buy it if i had the money, great lifestyle to.

monaro17, Jun 10, 2:21pm
You would have to be compensating for something if you bought that monstrosity

grangies, Jun 10, 2:34pm
If someone ran into the side of it. Just imagine the panelbeaters face when it turned up for a quote!

It'd be like. "errrrr ummmmm errrr. Hang on, I'll just find you a number for a good carpenter/boatbuilder/cabinet maker"

lol.

rjgmjs, Jun 10, 4:13pm
Bedford parts for that elderly model would be very scarce i would think, yeh, but its nice, good to be different, some times.

fleming.a.j.s, Jun 10, 4:15pm
Wonder why he is paying RUC's

supernova2, Jun 10, 5:39pm
over 3500Kg would be a good reason for RUC.

chris.f, Jun 10, 5:43pm
Original running gear so expect no more than 70kph max with a tail wind on a flat road and half that if you there is any gradient. Need a great interior as you'll spend many hours roadside sleeping and drinking coffee while you wait for the overheated truck to cool down, I used to own one of these house trucks. Access from cab to the living quarters is a godsend for security while parked up - enables access to drive off if hassled without having to exit the vehicle to do so.

gammelvind, Jun 10, 5:55pm
It's gorgeous!

toyboy3, Jun 10, 6:01pm
at least there would be always a clear road in front

muzz67, Jun 11, 4:54am

patiki1, Jun 11, 10:04am
Can you have a crap and shower at the same time!

matarautrader, Jun 11, 3:03pm
I thought those were only made in about a 2.2 litre petrol motor of about 1/2 horsepower so I don't know why he needs RUC.

sifty, Jun 11, 3:07pm
Apparently so,

genius concept.

flack88, Jun 11, 5:36pm
Fark would hate to try and stop in a hurry, they had biscut tins for brakes!

oakie, Jun 12, 6:45am
Dreadful looking thing!. imagine getting caught in a high wind going over the Rimutakas.not for me thanks.

jason18, Jun 12, 8:11am
I have seen the guys work as he posted the entire build progress on oldschool.co.nz. A lot of hard work has gone into this and he makes a bloody good job of it too. Not my cup of tea but watching him build it and also all the cars he builds I take my hat off to him. He has wood and metal skills that only I could wish to have. His missus also helps out to and isnt afraid to get her hand dirty.

friendly_prawn, Jun 12, 8:54am
did he actually build it Jason or did he just refurbish it.
I could swear this is one a friend of mine originally built up himself. Although I could be wrong. I have emailed a link to my friend to see if it is the one he built.

richardmayes, Jun 12, 9:23am
LOL you can pretty easily spot the people posting on this thread who have never even set foot inside a motorhome, let alone lived in or driven one.

The LAST thing that you care about in this type of vehicle is an aerodynamic streamlined shape.

Looks like a nice job. It would be even nicer IMO with a modern VW light truck chassis like the Maui campervans have, to give it a bit of performance and fuel economy, but I guess everything comes at a price.

opos, Jun 12, 9:40am
it wouldnt have the character if you did that
