Attitude, Flow coating? Why?

After reading something you posted meantioning flow coating it got me wondering about this practice again. I know what its all about but have never done it or had reason too but in the interest of doing things better is there a good reason some painters go to this length. In asking that I do note that when scuffing clear and reclearing (as in blending) the door or whatever with clear over clear does always seem to look better. Is this the reason! And if your going to flatten paintwork to polish why bother!
Seems like a lot of extra work to me LOL.

Yep, can understand that completly. And your right sanding and recoating does leave a better finish. Do you reduce the last coat at all!although depending on hardner speed that can suck the gloss at times. That metal flakeing looks like fun.

Some people "flow coat" with only one over reduced coat but i co up to 3,

Last coat anywhere up to 50/50 reducer to catalyzed clear.

I use fast hardener and two way where i am mate because my shed's not heated and i live under a mountain lol.

Never had any de-lam', cracking or thickness tension problems.-

I used to paint in a good size booth with heat but at that stage the fan was in the roof so you were fighting a loosing battle keeping it warm so I got very good painting in adverse conditions. Now the same booth has been moddified to suck from the floor level, man what a huge diffrence, hardly any shit in work anymore and it actually gets warmer when fans on and stays warm. And can bake stuff as wellif needed. Just done a mid 600s Jag thats taken a year to do and today was 2nd day buffing, my poor back lol. Used 5ltr base coat and it has 5 small tins of a $150 tinter in it. So looking at a grand for BC alone.
JHY, Blue Prism.
And alot of new cars have these expensive tinters in them now but try justifing putting th cost up, they dont understand.

I'm jealous of anyone who paints in a booth, but by christ when lotto comes my way i'll have a booth like no one in NZ has seen before LOL.

Yeah i'm waiting for the formula for Fords new Tangerine Scream (Focus colour) to come out. I'll bet my left one it's full of those tinters and dyes.

Ya just need to charge more LOL.I used to have to paint in the same space as the panelbeaters once upon a time, man that caused some "disscusions"
