Hi all. I'm doing a bit of research regarding anybody that has had a problem with parking meters in town, and if you have could you state what the problem was and the outcome. ie: has it been refered to court. There are several of us up here that would be Interested. In particular if it was during the last 3months or so.
Many thanks for your co-operation.

What do you mean problem! Problem that they're there! Or problem with them not working! (how's that a problem!)

I'm there once a week and have had no issues, however I rarely park in a metered spot. When I do, no issues.

Geez.

Manawatu/Wanganui was ranked lowest preferred destination, barely registering in the figures.

Palmerston North was famously the subject of a controversial remark made by British comedian John Cleese when he touted it as the place to go for people lacking the inspiration to commit suicide

Oh snap.

I get out of Palmy as fast as possible when on my way to Wanganui, not long enough to spend money on a parking meter. Atleast Wanganui has a kind of soul! Now that's saying something!

But good luck with your research

Palmy is just bland but hardly horrible IMO. Where as Wanganui. well that is not a place I found pleasant at all. Fred Dagg bagging Cleese! Well as far as comedic talent there is no comparison sorry Daggy. I would guarantee Cleese would be very amused by Mt Cleese.

Anyway. bit off topic.

Lol, there are worse places to be in NZ than Palmy North. Re: meters, keen to understand a bit more of the issue. I know a local niche consultancy is trying to get the PNCC to trial a new flexible payment option for metered parking based on RFID tags. Potential is big, at least conceptually, but whether the council wants to spend money to make money is another thing.

Is this the frog parking or what ever its called there!

200sx, Jun 9, 7:35pm
Yeah, I think it may actually have progressed to deployment by now. Frog guys were willing to front up the capital investment to fund it as they were that confident of it providing a return financially and as a good concept. They had a heap of Massey students involved in development work too which was cool.

The frogs have been in for ages, but they are proximity sensors, not RFID.
