Have any of you guys cleared over copper, if so how did ya do it!

Getting some bits of my "project" copper plated and don't want it to go green then black.

Not sure why clear would turn it green or black. I know thats what copper does though if not polished etc.I havent done it myself but like most things these days I dont see why you couldnt. Are you preping it somehow! or useing a clear addession promoter!

Yeah that's what i was saying, un-protected copper turns green-black.

That's why i'm asking mate, don't know 'how' to prep' it, also don't know what adhesion promoter would work.

I did bring some stuff in from OZ a few years ago from a comany called Spray Chief. They made a 2 pack candy that went directly onto chrome, glass & copper, they don't make it now tho.

Id imagine that like most surfaces you could scuff it then apply clear that would bring the shine back.
And sorry thought you meant the clear might turn it green lol.

There is a metal protective clear but I don't know what it's called or who makes it.

POR15 Glisten.

Not cheap though. About $100 per litre.I've never used it, but have been told it does exactly as described, as long as the right procedures are followed.

It's available all over NZ.

PPG have a DTM (direct to metal) clear, getting very popular in finishing aluminium boats. Not cheap but very effective.
