Wondering how much it would cost (rough price here) to get a catalytic converter removed on a mitsi legnum circa 1998!
any recommendations on where to go in dunedin to get such a job done!
TIA.

Make sure you get the old one back, they are valuable as scrap metal. IMO, if you dont get it back then you shouldn't get charged for the job because the job is worth about the same as the cat

For a non high performance turbo or rotary car which yours is luckily, its a very basic job which involves 3 cuts and 2 welds and much much less than an hours work, so you should not pay more than $120 total! but probably closer to $60-80 in my view. And yes as said above the cat is worth some money normally! but each cat is worth a different price at most scrap dealers as the part that is worth the most in it slowly goes out the exhaust over the years! Expect minimum $10 and maximum $80 at current scrap prices for a cat from a vehicle such as yours.

See if it unbolts ,and just knock the honeycomb out (quite hard need a good spike, big hammer and dust mask}and bolt it back up ,and feel it breathe!

Hunt around, you should get about $50 for a half cat and around $90-$120 for a full one. The major scrap metal merchants wont buy them but the scrap dealers will, but again ring around.
