A builder who drives an Alfa Romeo 147! Seems a bit suss there. He must be a shopfitter for hair dressing shops or something I guess.

No surprise he lost in the defended hearing given it's usually heard by politically appointed morons known as JPs.
How exactly did we let our justice system be infiltrated by those bozos!

Oh, and someone needs to chant the idiotic mantra "Be accused of doing the crime, do the time!" to complete this thread.

They just need the guy putting the cones out to log the time with the parking office.

I'm just surprised they didn't just falsify some documentation to show they had. if it had been Council employees I have no doubt they would have.

What this case makes evident is the poor communications between the Council and their contracted company. One part of the Council approves the idea of coning to define temporary disabled sites but doesn't tell the next department responsible for advising their contractor. Then the poor egg out there patrolling the streets sees the signs, doesn't question where they came from or why to his/her boss and simply follows orders and tickets. Reminds me of words used in the middle to late forties in Europe to excuse war criminals' action. "Befehl zum Befehl!" (look it up!). Trouble is exactly this sort of comms failure is typical of councils and their contractors. throughout NZ.And then the insult is that it has to go to the High Court to be sorted at some enormous cost to the Council.I mean of course and addition to our rates.Maddening!

It may surprise you to learn that Council employees aren't just there marking time until the next NASA intake is called.

Oh, but you just know those fools will be along soon enough.

Sorry TRH. you were right. Someone had to act in a predictable fashion and offer nothing of consequence or originality.Even if it was as a result of your tongue in your cheek!

Had one from the CCC myself last week, dead car delivered on a tow truck - no bugger around for a push (they had actually removed all of the lining from the clutch disc - well done) so I had to wait till the panel shop lads next door turned up, in the mean time - a wee man with a pen and paper gave it a whopper of a $200 ticket - sad part is, the guy that owns it decided not to fix it - it ran out of license 3 days before it was delivered! Ive done a letter, seems the CCC are targeting workshops again - groomer around the corner got rolled for about 11 cars (new imports / no plates - will be an interesting time finding the 'registered owner') so might fight it - need a break from actually working for a living.
