as I understand it,new zealands police cars have no insurance, what do they do when they have accidents,as they do.Also not a good example to everyone else either aye.

No, like many fleets the yearly cost to keep insurance outways the cost of a few accidents. easier to pay up themselves if they have a crash than go through insurance companys. Kinda self insured. Plus its Government money anyway so its a bottomless pit lol.

I do not understand why he could not get insurance for the ford, there are much more expensive cars around all with insurance,what he should have said he could not afford insurance

Anything is insurable of you pay enough. What he means is he thought the cost of insuring it outweighed the benefit. He's learnt that one the hard way.

Legally they aren't liable if its a genuine medical issue.
