lesson learned.at ANY accident no matter how small.get out your phone camera and take lots of pictures of the cars and where they are positioned and the driver. a picture speaks a thousand bucks so they say. :) we had an old boligerant guy back in to our car and put a nice towbar hole in the front bumper, we took lots of pics and when he denied liability the ins company saw all the pics and saw clearly it was his fault.

LOL, I think an earlier post hit the nail on the head. I suspect they are a D list radio announcer or perhaps a councilor or the likes. They were driving a Hyundai I30 Diesel wagon so hardly someone of much note!

Thanks for all the reply's people. Sorry I had to disappear half way through. I have been keeping Mrs Jazz company at the hospital today and my wifi allowance ran out suddenly. (Mrs Jazz is all good BTW, just had some ligament reconstruction today, hopefully will make her life more comfortable)
Nice to get some opinions on how to go about this. I think I will report a claim and have a chat to the insurance company for their opinion as suggested above. Depending on how that turns out I will decide how to proceed from there.
I will read through your advice again and might post a couple of responses!

LOL, don't worry I politely but firmly stood my ground and took photo's etc. I have been around the block enough times to know that getting agro dosn't necessarily help the situation and I was quite happy to let this guy make himself look like a phallus in public.
Was just keen for some input into how to go about getting this sorted without putting myself at risk of paying an excess etc.
Don't worry, I have enjoyed and won many a battle away from the keyboard in my time. That's how I have had a look at the inner workings of the Police, because I have stepped up and done their job for them when they have failed me.

I was in Manukau shopping centre, just getting into my car when I felt a small bump. Hopped out, looked behind to see a bloke and a woman hopping out of a Commodore SS. Walked back, looked down and saw my towball was inside his spoiler. Said to him " have trouble parking, mate!". He replies "no". So I said he'd hit my car, which he denied flatly, but his missus looked 'n' said yes he did, they'd only bought it 45mins ago, no insurance yet. When he backed away his spoiler stayed where it was. laughed my head off and he never apologised.

LOL, No definitely wasn't Phil, incidentally I met him 15 years or so ago (crikey I am getting old) sat down and had a good ole chat and a coffee at a music store I worked in. I don't think Mr Rudd really knows the meaning of the word "incognito", pretty sure I would recognise him still, even in a Hyundai.

Thanks, its not biggie really. Plenty of people had worse days than me (like Mrs Jazz. she's going to have to suffer through my attempts at cooking for the next few weeks!) I appreciate the thought though, and I would have been peeved if it had let more of a mark, luckily its very minor.

Agreed, jazz, that was the second time I'd been hit from behind in that horse. Was stopped on red light when a woman drove into me - no brakes! Said she saw me stopped and didn't know why she did it. Pushed my towbar under the car. She wasn't insured so told her to pay me $100 then or 1 week to get me another one. 2 weeks later explained it to my insurer who told me to have another fitted and they'll deal with her.
