How to lift the forkhoist.

purplegoanna, Jul 5, 8:14am
mrpg aka macguyver needs to check the brakes on the forkhoist but we cant lift it! lol just had the tractor out with the forks but it ended up with the tractor wheels in the air.

Do they need brakes ! Just use the forks instead. Lol.

modie61, Jul 5, 8:17am
Can you use some timber under the forks and lower the forks fully ! Just asking.

nah, forklifts are designed to lift loads they have no power when going the other way, just gravity. They maybe able to get some lift off blocks under ends forks using the forward tilt but probably not enough to help

Drive it up on to low ramps/ blocks & chock the wheels, then use a heavy duty garage trolley jack to lift it.
Failing that, get a fleet tyre shop over to lift it or Crown ( http://crown.y8.co.nz/!gclid=CMicx8SNgbECFeiUpgodeCzKQw ) ( http://www.crownnewzealand.com/ )

simple, tilt mast right back, block under the front of the bottom of the mast and then tilt forward.

May have to lock the mast down1st

Forklifts are heavy little mofo's. A lot of people don't realize just how heavy most of them are. They will sh1t a hobby quality trolley jack in quick time. Same when it comes time to maintain them . everything is truck sized and you will find you need to invest in the 3/4" and/or 1" drive stuff.

Please explain! we aren't talking about the forks.
Putting suitable blocks under the mast as explained will lift the forklift with ease enough to change a wheel.

=1, it does work.

vpholdie, Jul 5, 6:05pm
Yes putting block under mast works fine we used changed tyres that way

Holy Crap on a Cracker. I see dead people

make sure you secure it before climbing around underneath it, it could have serious consequences if it drops. Something like this arrangement should be fine http://c.cslacker.com/2818l.jpg
