I'd suspect if the deluge we had yesterday was the same there its likely to be 150mm or more of mud by now

First drove over this goat track in 1974, then again 2 years ago tried it again. I reckon it had deteriorated.

It would have been in the '70's when I last drove it too.I hoped it may be sealed by now, as I want to stay in Te Puru and drive over to Whitianga daily for a few days.Might just sort out accom in Whitianga instead.

Try the 309 road or whangapoua hill. 309 mostly sealed and whangapoua hill fully sealed.

I'd go for accomo in Whiti - it'll be crap after all that rain, they've put clay over the gravel not long ago, and in the rain it turns into a slippery mess.:(

I'll be on a cruiser motorcycle, so not much fun on gravel!

Went through 2 weeks ago, no not sealed, was a good road tho with very few potholes. Stop at the square Kauri for a look.

you should just 'cruize' then and go through Coro/Whangapoua, and stay at Whiti. It'll be real crap on the bike, esp with the clay after all that rain :(

It's not for a couple of months yet, so the roads should have time to recover.Have to decide whether to stay with sister in Te Puru, or stay in Whitianga.I envy you, alleycatz for living in Whitianga - it's one of my two favourite spots in Godzone.
