Let me get this right; you asked the Police to treat this guy as guilty untill he could prove himself innocent, the police said no and you got your nose out of joint!

funny because cops seem to make up the rules as they go along, a mate bought a set of mags off me, he stored them away then changed direction of his project & took them to a swap meet, Joe Public goes past & reckons theyre his & were stolen, calls cops & cop confiscates them & gives them to him, eventhough he had no evidence, markings etc just his 'feeling'. The wheels were in mine & my mates possession way longer than the time other guy reckoned his were stolen.

seen the same thing happen. A cop confiscated a mates trailor. Said it belonged t some one else. They guy who origially sold it to my mate was the one taht built it and he was even prepared to step up and tell the cops he built it. The cop threatened my mate with theft if he went around and took it back. My mate was too scared to do anything about it. Now he watches some one else towing his trailor around. Beautiful full size tandem trailor. Funny enough the guy that built it and sold it to my mate was never approached by the cops and charged let along accused with anything. Dodgy as hell.

I knew a guy who had his 66 Bonneville stolen. Got the bike back 22 years later. A mate of the owner saw a 66 Bonnie in Chch. Checked out frame and engine number, notified police.

actually rather than drag this out, I''ll just tell you. If I tried to take it to court it would be thrown out in an instant. In NZ you cant claim back property you dont actually own. The owner of the trailor (friend) is the one who would need to step up and fight for his rights. Im not his baby sitter. And yes he took it bending over. If it were mine I would have got my trailor back no if's or but's. Hope that clears that up for you moosie

Police rang me today to say they found my (now a bit buggered) racecar trailer that got pinched back in February. Its not as long ago as the Jailbar, but if my stuff can come back then so can the Jailbar

I dont think the police even care about the jailbar.After all they said they knew who took it or where it ended up,and still didnt get it back.Only hope is someone who has a grudge against those who took it,may be now a reward would lead to a recovery!I wonder if its related to all the other muscle car type thefts that sprung up in the Waikato since then!Monaros,commodores,ac cobra to name a few.

From memory it was a faded dark blue with some signwriting on the door. I would think it unlikely to surface in the same colours. I think it may have had Jag suspension too, but the others will need to confirm that

I figure as much too. If my trailer can be found in a backyard in Chch by police "just visiting" then Im sure that they can "just visit" other places and locate a missing Jailbar.

+1 Why we put up with the pathetic self funding marketing exercise we call our Police force I do not know. Give me my money back! I have received nothing from the Police but hinderence when I have needed them.
