According to that, you can fit a 215/45/17 tyre to a rim between 7" - 8" wide. That's good news for you

No mate it wont fit on an 8" rim.I have 8" rims on my ride on lawn mower, and I just tried it and its a bit loose.

8" wide is the ideal width for 215-225 wide tyres.
