obviously they don't have thehoops to jump through we do re compliance and vinning by the time they allowed it on the road here it would weigh twice what it does now - side intrusion bars, air bags, asb, containment cell for batteries etc

cars create drag by there very nature so it might make sence to capture that drag and use it so long as the fan diverts it away from the frontand making more drag
3tomany,
Jun 27, 10:16am
yip kiwi inginuity has gone the way of the chinese we cant do this stuff in our garage anymore incase someone or youreself gets hurt trying
skin1235,

hadn't noticed that one trh
man the knockers are quick to jump in aren't they I see some talking perpetual motion etc
maybe news for some but the perpetual motion myth ( can't be done) was broken many decades ago, getting useful power from it remains an issue but there are certainly engines capable of running that consume their own output as the fuel to drive themselves there are also simple fixed magnetic engines that never need an external energy source merrily spinning away years after the brakes were released and they were allowed to start ( I built one way back in those school science days that ran in excess of a year until it fell off the ledge - couldn't be bothered rebuilding it so tossed it in the garbage) but hey, perpetual motion cannot be conquered, says the blind sheep, and they will not look around for fear of showing how closed minded they are

I only remembered it because of the claim of perpetual motion someone made.

Promoting nonsense scammobiles that shouldn't fool a 7 year old will not do your cause any good. I am the first to look outside the square but you need to look at proper alternatives not rubbish like this Chinese nonsense with a fan on the front. It concerns me that we have people in this country stupid enough to take that seriously. especially TV3, how stupid are they!
skin1235,
Jun 27, 2:56pm
to you it maybe a scammobile jazz, not sure where the scam part is though, he's done some hard graft getting it to where it is now, he reports it trundles along at 100km/hr plus happily, and that he has a system that seems to give it 3 times the expected run per charge on the batteries he's got in it
as for accusing tv3 of being stupid for reporting it, not too sure where you're coming from with that, it could be they too cannot find a scam in it and have no issue reporting that they have become aware of a vehicle which is different and being different it scares the pants off sheep and die hards who cannot see outside their self erected boundaries you'd be saying you cannot use wind power to drive either a car (or a ship) directly into the wind. and yet they do - and that HAS to be impossible if you confuse parity with force and energy application
thejazzpianoma,
Jun 27, 3:11pm
Skin, clearly you don't have even the most rudimentary understanding of physics. I admire your enthusiasm but unfortunately people like you do the real innovators a disservice by clogging the internet with junk science scams.
This is not about it being a "scam to me" it is quite simply an obvious scam and junk science to anyone with even the most basic understanding of physics. Its so obvious that its rubbish I won't even dignify it with arguing the point by beginning to explain where it falls down.
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 3:26pm
Seconded.
This is a complete joke.
skin1235,
Jun 27, 3:33pm
lol, not even a rudimentary understanding, huh
yep one day you may actually sus who you're telling doesn't have a clue
meanwhile please point out to me, with all your rudimentary understandings of physics, where the vehicle or any claims attached to it offend any of those laws of physics
you may not wish to argue the point, just point a finger, proclaim your expertise and run away
meanwhile theres a degree hanging on the wall here ., is it in physics, or another of the sciences and I don't have any issue arguing your lack of comprehension of the english language
perhaps your fear is that it works, even with the fan on the front instead of being hidden from your easily offended view, and you really cannot back up your claim of scam
skin1235,
Jun 27, 3:36pm
care to enlighten us to the joke then richard
skin1235,
Jun 27, 3:56pm
there is only one claim in the whole report, and that is that the wind fan on the front gives him 3 times the travel of normal electric cars, this would be the only part I'd have an issue with, and being unable to ask what it actually produces, nor him telling us you'd assume it will never provide suffice to power the vehicle but he never claimed it did power the vehicle if your cry of scam refers to energy used to charge the batteries at home always being under par, ( less than parity) then you would have some merit in your cry but he is not claiming over parity anywhere, no vehicle manufacture would, not petrol, diesel, or hybrid, fuel cell etc no laws of fundamental physics have been offended from what I see
thejazzpianoma,
Jun 27, 4:03pm
In the interests of getting you to go away. The energy required to turn the fan willbe more than what it produces. End of story.
johnf_456,
Jun 27, 4:06pm
Reckon. Lol Asb
skin1235,
Jun 27, 4:09pm
so!, he never claimed otherwise
end of your comprehension perhaps
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 4:15pm
EVEN IF the fan/generator assembly was 100% efficient, the fan would only be feeding back to the battery the SAME amount of power that is being drawn from the battery (by the car's roadwheel motor) in order to push the fan through the air in the first place.
BUT we know the fan/generator assembly cannot possibly be 100% efficient, because not even the very best aerospace designs are 100% efficient, because of things like aerodynamic turbulence around the fan blades, friction in the generator bearings, electrical resistance losses in the transmission wiring, etc etc.
SO it is obvious by inspection that pushing that BS plastic desk fan through the air will use up much more power than whatever the fan generator can recover, therefore the battery charge would last longer without the fan on the front of the car, therefore the design is a joke.
(alternatively, you might want to consider that if this idea works, why are wind turbines mounted on stationary poles on the tops of hills! Why not drive them around on motorized wagons so that they are always feeling the wind, always spinning, and always generating power!)
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 4:23pm
Jazz -
Do you think skin1235 wants to get a job at Volkswagen designing the next generation of fuel-efficient cars!
skin1235,
Jun 27, 4:25pm
and for that you toss the baby out, and the bathwater!, did the fact he had an all electric car capable of 110km.ph completely bypass your brain, or do you condemn it because he used a vinyl seat cover perhaps - obviously it has a carbon footprint he never claimed it was an aeroplane prop pulling ir through the air, or that it produced more power than it used - note it is not turned on before 45km/ph, and in all probability does very little - unless your foot is off the go pedal and the engine amp draw in minimal
if you'd come back with an argument about the energy budget charging batteries then draining them pushing the vehicle around being a bit under parity in an obvious way you may have actually earned a credit in the credibility stakes
skin1235,
Jun 27, 4:27pm
lol, if you or jazz got the job we'd have ugly box shaped items cos you're still stuck in the square
oh sorry jazz already has a couple of them
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 4:28pm
110km/h - really!
WOW
I take it all back.
The man is an engineering genius.
I bow in his general direction.
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 4:29pm
Do you even understand these things you are saying!
skin1235,
Jun 27, 4:31pm
so you never even bothered to read the article just leapt in boots and all with no idea what was actually being discussed
there a mature attitude for ya, and one who not only can see outside the square, can see inside it too without even looking at it
richardmayes,
Jun 27, 4:32pm
Now THIS will blow your mind skin.
Here's an ALL ELECTRIC train that will go 315km/h:
I'm trying to dumb it down to your level, you have no concept of the real world and need it broken down into small pleasant bite size bits
johnf_456,
Jun 27, 4:33pm
Easy guys, skin1235 its not worth getting worked up about
