You wire up the red lead that comes from the expander to the positive wiring from your stereo and then put your car's aerial into the rear of the expander then plug your other end into your radio. The numbers are totally differant e.g 99.00 hauraki in auckland will be a totally differant number on the limited band and usually you just search through until you think that sounds like the station and save it onto your presets putting it in simple terms.

Can you pick up all local stations! If not, you need an expander All they do is shift the frequency, usually by 10MHz (can buy them in a 12 and 14 MHz step too, but 10MHz is best). They don't change what you see displayed by the stereo. So for eg if you have a 10MHz step expander and you want 95FM, you would tune the radio to 85FM.
What type of car do you have! Not all cars take the same type of expander
