Thought I would help the local high school fundraiser. Got my car out this morning and discover the paintwork has very fine scratches all over it. Washers must have used a coarse brush or sponge. Paintwork looks like it has a laquer(sp) finish to it. Any other colour than black and I may not have noticed. Any idea if I can "polish" the scratch marks out! Thanks.

I always watch these things - went to one where they wanted to use a yard broom thing. Cut that off right away.

Thought about c&p. Could try it on a small out of sight part 1st I suppose. Damaged my faith in fundraiser's. Mind you, had I not taken the offer of free coffee while I waited I may have seen what the kids were going to use to wash with.

It's a black car fekim - you just should be more careful how it's washed.
Remember wife and driver friend taking my newly painted black Mazda shopping in Aucks one day, while I helped the friends brother.They came back very proud that they'd put the car through a car-wash for me! I just grimmest and said thankyou. It was covered in swirls!

I wince when I see the gear those fundraiser washes use AND what they do with the gear. Sure no problems-rest your wash brush on the ground so it picks up gravel--eeep

Yeah.caused by grit in dirty water.cleans and shines with harsh scratches.

The 1st, and last time I did that, I noticed afterwards that they were using dishwashing liquid on the paintwork, so much cheaper than car wash I suppose.
