The way I understand it, only personal plates can be traded - everything else is government property and must be handed in when the car is scrapped (or laid up). Those in your link look like gov. plates

So they can do a runner at the gas station-Have had 2 x sets stolen of my work vans and cops said both sets of plates where used this way

So, as the lister has photographed them, then I would expect the authorities to repossess them immediately and TradeMe to cancel the auction, as quite plainly, they are not the seller's property.

Theres been quite a few auctions on trade me that I have seen that have had current useable plates,TM seem not to care.I too have had people try to steal my plates off my car whilst parked in a supermarket.

people steal plates to use them for crime, or to put on stolen cars etc. the dishonest group arent going to BUY plates on an online auction site - they can be traced. Rat rodders and the like might be interested, I have seen a ratrod with a floorpan made up of numberplates - though they were all foreign plates, pretty cool though

plates are ment to be handed in but you can get away with handing none in ive had the plates stolen off my car what a joke the cops are wouldnt hand them back to me i had to pay for a new set

should be on a legit vehicle or handed in . Obviously not a hard and fast rule, have a look around a wreckers yard, and on the ''car crushing'' news video last night ,Isaw an old black plate hanging out of one of the crushed piles.!

TM have removed it. I've also seen heaps of govt issued plates pop up on TM now & then. I always CW them, then they dissapear. Simply tell TM they are govt property and seller is defraudings & not legal to sell. Auction will be gone quick smart. TM dont want them on here, imagine the bad media coverage if they allowed it and people started using stolen plates off TRADEME.
