Just to clarify the situation. Can I sell privately (on TM) with a 5 month old WOF. Is there a difference between and auction and a classified! Do I need the purchaser to sign an "accepted as is and WOF older than 28 days" duplicate receipt in both cases.

Yes you need to clearly state the car is as is where is if its an auction or classified. But its the receipt sighned by you and the buyer thats is the actual contract. On the contract it must say sold as is where is. Yes definitely put all that on the contract sighned by you and the buyer.

No older than 1 month unless agreed by the buyer in writing at the time.

I think this is a ridiculous waste of time - since the WOF is only considered an on the spot thing.
That said, I think anyone who buys a car without taking it through a WOF centre or getting it properly checked out is a complete moron

Selling private you don't need a wof at all. Anything purchased privately is always as is where is (regardless if it's stated or not). It must be as described though (no false/misleading advertising/statements).

That is for car dealers only.
