Zetor hydraulic issue.

bigmacca, Jul 16, 9:29am
ive got a zetor 5945 which is used for fencing.runs a kinghitter rammer.the problem i have is limited hydraulic pressure at all.cant lift the rammer and rammer controls are very slow.so far i have replaced the oil, cleaned the filter, removed and cleaned the relief valve.the pump unit was replaced about 12mths ago with a new hi flow unit.the main thing i have noticed is it sounds like its under load all the time .when it is working it fires the 270kg monkey up very easily.
the first time it happened it had a small piece of crap stuck in the relief valve.
would a worn or tired relief valve spring cause it to stay under load!

one of the controls set wrong
there are so many different controls on those girls it's crazy

also change the ports you're using to the other side, you may find you transfer the issue to your boom control - in which case double check the nipples in the connectors

cheers i have checked the controls and externally they are all set correctly.will try changing ports and see what happens.

Make sure the mast is very well lubed. It's only a little skinny ram lifting it, and if the grease on the mast is getting tacky, things come to a grinding halt.

One a ya hoses has collapsed inside.

the spring in one of the couplings could be broken restricting flow. or a valve on the tractor might be bypassing pumping oil all the time. if no taps try undoing the hydraulic pipes from a valve and put a bung on it to see if you can isolate the problem

cheers for suggestions.
ok so far today i have removed hoses to the rammer and then tryd to lift the rammer.got a small amount of lift.
refitted them and tryed both of the outlets but no change.at this stage i dont believe the rammer is the problem .
looks like i will have to pull the pump unit out and start over again.
may try adding a spacer in to the relief valve to increase the pressure.

Plug a pressure gauge into the banks on the tractor. that will tell you straight away where the problem is. If you have over 2000psi, there is no problem with the tractor.

I can tell you from personal experience with king-hitters, if that grease on the mast is getting tacky, even a hydraulic system in perfect condition wont lift the monkey,.

So there is two very cheap things for you to check before you go pulling things to bits.

x1
I can tell you from experience that you don't grease King Hitter Masts, you only use a heavy oil. All dust and grit will adhere to the grease and you create grinding paste to wear your mast quicker and the back of the slide. This guy has a baby kinghitter, I have a real one and i run it dry as it has teflon wear pads in the back on the monkey that runs on the mast. Look at my services add photos, all will be revealed.

Did I say grease it!

mrcat1, Jul 16, 6:45pm
No you didnt mention greasing it, you said if the grease on the mast becomes tacky, well they aren't greased from the factory so someone must of greased it, as i said you only use a oil on the mast.

It sounds like it is either relieving OR it has a diverter valve that has been switched over to say the front end loader, some older tractors have a diverter valve on top of the gear box right by were you put over your feet, is there one there and has it been knocked!

bigmacca, Jul 16, 6:52pm
sorry guys its not the rammer causing the problem.rammer is well lubed so no issues there.nice rammer by the way mrcat1.will get a pressure tester and get some readings.will also check the orings on the feed from the pump to the top plate as maybe that is leaking aswell.never a dull moment with older gear .lol

bigmacca, Jul 16, 6:57pm
as far as im aware the only diverter is fitted next to the liftarm lever and ive tryed both ports whilst switching with the direrter. if it was relieving surely the system wouldnt sound or act like its under load!

mrcat1, Jul 16, 7:04pm
Yes your right, it would sound like it is under load, possibly pump has issues.

bigmacca, Jul 16, 7:12pm
i still have the old pump which was only taken out as to fit the hiflow unit.if the pressure is low i will put that back in and see what the readings are with that fitted.cheers guys.

My way of thinking is a high flow pump is not going to increase pressure, only volume, or if it does increase pressure then it will dump any over pressure back into the gearbox thru the relief valve.

NZTools, Jul 16, 7:25pm
If it isnt lubed correctly, what is left becomes a black sticky grease very quickly, hence why i refered to it as grease.

a 1979 tractor, not too sure about that recent but do know the earlier zetors would spit the pump at the drop of a hat,
the casings were so thin they'd blow the side out of them
not too hard to get to, unbolt the cover on the side, reach in and unbolt the pump
earlier models had a pressure port on top of the box just forward of the 3 point linkage barrel but you can just as easily remove the socket at the port and screw a gauge in there - takes a couple of adapters to size down to the gauge
