Have got an '81 XR200R that I am slowly sorting out.
Drive line side of things is sorted, no dramas there.
Am having a tough time sorting out plastics, like guards, front number plates etc etc.
The bike was pretty bare when I got it, so there is quite a bit missing.a lot of which is not shown in the workshop manual.
If anyone here knows a bit I would be keen for a brain pick as to where to locate parts.and also find out what parts I am missing:)
Thanks all.

Oh, pro link rear

You looking for the front light suround/number plate thingy!Would the same era XLs be the same by chance!I think cockys sheds are going to be your best bet. I take it you have tried bike wreckers!

jasongroves, Jul 16, 6:01pm
Yeah thats one of the bits I am after. Have tried as many wreckers as possible. Most plastics are pretty far gone now as expected. XL could be the same, but not sure yet.

There a guy here on TM thats seems to have alot of oldjap dirt bikes for sale, all in very tidy condition. I assume he brings them in from somewhere. Might be worth asking if he has access to parts. Im surprised your having a hrad time finding parts. Have you tried rural bike shops, like the two in Winton say. They have all sorts out the back.

Have emailed him and just waiting to here back. Looks like he knows his stuff:)

Parts are not too hard to find, its just the condition (they are 30 years old:) Are you able to give me a link or some keywords to search for in regards to the TM guy you mentioned!

jasongroves, Jul 16, 6:23pm
One of the hardest parts to find has been the front number plate, as most had the headlight and thats not the look I am after.
I am pretty keen on the old 4 strokes:)

Cheers gunhand

Malcolm is excellent. would you like me to list a XR200RB parts list for $10 in quite good condition! Find me through my only listing.

dr.doolittle, Jul 16, 6:38pm
All RB's & RC's had a front light as standard.
They were an enduro bike.

just soring myone out too, I managed to bend the frame, opps! Now to shift everything off my stuffed frame to a good one. Im stuck on finding a plastic side cover on the exhaust side, seems they all cracked and melted away due to the heat!

jasongroves, Jul 16, 6:47pm
Yep, same boat here

jasongroves, Jul 16, 6:53pm
Wow.thats tidy

motorboy2011, Jul 16, 6:58pm
Give it a month and hopefully it will be tidy and straight lol! Getting the "new" frame painted factory Tahitian red, and the plastic rear mud guard replaced with a smaller metal one that they also came out with. Cant make it too shiny or I wont wan to get it dirty, and thats a waste of a bike

Have just had the frame powder coated black, fresh engine etc.will be a nice bike when its finished

motorboy2011, Jul 16, 7:10pm
good fun to ride, the pro-link handle FAR better than the twin shocks

attitudedesignz, Jul 16, 7:10pm
Pretty sure same era XLs had round headlight with "plate" below OR rectangle headlight with "plate" above, whereas '80/'81 XR had rectangle light with "plate" below.

One of my favourite dirt bikes the '80/'81 XR200.

jasongroves, Jul 16, 7:18pm
It was in a hell of a state when I got it.
Will try and find some before, during and after photos to upload.

jasongroves, Jul 16, 7:22pm
Me too. Got several bikes lying around and this one is the favorite. Thats when it comes to 2 wheels:) Also got an off roader with a CBR1000 donk in it, for a bit oflaugh. Also theres a CBR900, a Sachs 250, a CRF and a few more:)

jasongroves, Jul 16, 7:25pm
Oh, almost forgot my mates 1929 Triumph

attitudedesignz, Jul 16, 7:32pm
Is the Sachs an early one!

I'm a sucker for late '70s early '80s dirtbikes.
In last 5 years,
Maico 490
IT 490
PE 175 & 400T
YZ 465G
RM 400C

Countless XRs, DRs, TTs & XTs.

The big block smokers ARE my favourites tho'.

Nope, Sachs is last years model. Cheap as chips. Has been stripped down a bit and have changed the gearing on the mill/lathe.
