Licence Expiry? what does this mean?

johnotrademe, Aug 7, 9:53pm
Hello everyone,

I did a CarJam report on a car advertised here on Trademe.

Licence Expiry:2011-Sep-20
expired over 10 months ago

Is Licence Expiry another term for Rego!

Sorry for the stupid question but i'm slightly confused.

Many thanks =)

Yes that's registration. It should actually be billed to the current owner, so you start paying from when you purchase the car, not from when the rego ran out. Another 2 months and it goes dead

Many thanks for your help =)

question: Will CarJam also tell you if a vehicle has a current exemption from been on the road!

Is the report you are looking at up to date!

awesome thanks!

The correct term is licence! Registration is the one-off intial purchase of plates etc. for the working life of the vehicle and licensing is the annual payment of a licence fee to use the vehicle on the road!

if youwatch Fair Go Rego does not imply ownership either

I would certainly check to see if it has exemption status, otherwise I think you'll find that whoever goes to register the vehicle will have to pay any outstanding fees. They won't just let you register it from the date you change ownership.

Wrong Wrong Wrong unless Road User Charges are involved in wshich case you have to sort the Road User but NOT the outstanding Licence. The outstanding Licence is the problem of the seller - wont he/she get a surprise!
