Just brought a 2nd hand boot for my vs clubsport and am wanting to take my old spoiler off and swap it onto the new boot lid. Got all the bolts off no problem but it appears both old and new spoilers are guled down with some kind of factory glue. Is there any solvent I can buy to break down the glue without wreaking the paint were or is there some trick to removing them that i dont no about. force alone wont move it.

Fishing nylon. Pull tight between two sticks and cut through the glue

Would it be that double sided foam stuff rather than a 'glue'! If so, the above would be what I'd try first, probably the nylon as it's plastic. Good luck

heat the contact aera with a heat gun or hair dryer, it softens the adhesive making removal easier.

I took one off a VN a few weeks ago to do a bit of rust repair, undid the 3x bolts holding it on, and pulled it off without to much difficulty,

the double sided foam glue can be softened up with Citrus Oil concentrate e.g. DeSolvit or GooGone. Great for getting "chrome" badges off without any paintwork damage!
