Can a WOF person get that info!

And get in trouble if its for personal use and you get caught. Seem to recall somebody being kicked out of the force for doing this- stalking a nice looking lady he had seen.

Well I suppose you could try the Office of the Ombudsman along the lines that your request has not been actioned correctly and that the reasons for not advising the information are unreasonable.Don't know if you will get what you want but its only a case of filling in the form online and then waiting.

Other idea would be to wander into a busy VTNZ with a dumb looking staff member and say you think they have the wrong address on the system and could they check for you.You think the rego has expired bla bla bla and havnt got the form bla bla bla.Might work. Also could change the address to yours and then you might get something in the mail with the old name on it(bit dodgy though so its not a recommendation).I used a VTNZ on Saturday to get a rego and they only had school kids on the counter and I think the counter had more intelligence than all of them put together.

And waiting, and waiting!

You could get the current owners name from the carjam report if you sign up and pay the $$ for the report. The report will give you the owners town/city. Go to the local library and look them up on the electoral roles and get their address and phone number.
Disclaimer:- I have no idea whether the above information will work or not!

The carjam report does NOT give the current owner from a paid report. It quotes the privacy blurb. I know cos I tried that last night (and paid).

Incorrect. yes we can get that info. can we give it out is another question.
My guess the car is a 74 Morris Mini Moke and it is in the Napier area

My WOF online system definitely doesn't have a function to identify the vehicle owners name or address.

I've had two situations where after filing the form on line I was rung the next day and problem sorted within a week.On others it can take for ever - one example being an IRD matter which has just had it's sixth birthday!
