OK What have I done ?!

Last few days temperature guage going high and falling back. On the motorway this morning no drop back FROM HIGH. Suddenly much rattling noise and a loss of power. Lots of steam. Have I blown the lot !! Thank you.

You ignored the warning signs so your car is now going to stab you in the wallet.
Tow it to the nearest workshop and they will advise how much it will hurt.
Unless its a rotary, where the correct course of action will be to drop a lit match into the fuel tank.

The gauge is there for a reason.
Did the car engine stop, or just lose power!
If you are **really** lucky it could just be a blown hose / radiator cap.
More likely head gasket / warped head.

Check to see if there is water in the oil, or oil in the water.
Is there any water left!

quite likely you just blew a head gasket. Your car was snivelling and whineing to you that it wasn:t feeling well and you ignored its pleas for attention. Now its off to the car hospital for a transplantthats gonna cut a hole in your bank account. -not intended to be offensive but yes most likely its gonna cost a fair bit
