My wife drives a sizeable people mover and on dull days has her lights on as well. Most days she has people pull out in front of her from stop signs, giveways etc. Again all ages and types of cars. She even had a huge truck drive straight through a giveway at 4.30am. Just because he didnt think anyone would be there at that time as he goes through it everyday at same time and prob never sees any one. well one day it does happen. I had a woman do the same to me on a country intersection while I was on my motorcycle. Thankfully I seen what was going to happened and slowed enough for her to sail right past me. I followed her and stopped her. She was shitting herself as she got a hell of a fright. Her reason, I go through here everday and theres never anyone coming. Yea tell my widow and kids that. I was very nice to her as well and didnt fly off the handle as that achieves bugger all. Oh and I still can not find the target on the people mover.

It's not an argument about whether we need Stop signs or not.
It's the muppets who are happy that the government are collecting more revenue by targeting motorists becaue someone crept over a stop sign at 3km/h and got fined for it even though there weren't any other cars in th vicinity.

It's called using discretion intelligently
So yes, I do think discretion SHOULD be used, but I'm big enough and ugy enough to know that it WONT be used when you have a bankrupt government that uses its police force to raise revenue.
You've never been given a few days to pay that rego, get that warrant or told to slow down rather than get a fine!
That's intelligent discretion at work.

Hmm, you possibly got a fair point there. wouldnt it be nice if we could rely on the cops to use some discrestion. Not sure that we could rely on them to be fair in the way that they would use it though but I like the sounds of that.:-)

Not a hope in hell of cops ever using discretion anyway. They are too busy filling quotas to let anyone off. Some times they know people are innocent and still write you a ticket saying "go argue it with the courts" Seen that happen before and had it happend to me.

Yes gunhand I do stop anyway because it is a stop sign and put there for a reason. Reasons that you and I may not be aware of, and that means come to a complete stop. my safety is of foremost concearn as would yours.I think they should target them more.

i was taught at ht school not to look whats coming until you have stopped sounds odd but has saved me a few tickets
