Who was part of that poll! I know I wasn't.

So you pay $2 to drive in to work each day , then pay $2 to drive home! , so $20 bucks a week! is that what they want to do!

curlcrown, Jul 26, 3:43pm
What a load of BS. I bet they asked the question in such a way that you would have to say yes. For example if they asked you if you would happily pay $1 if it took half an hour of the time of the trip ofcourse you would asy yes.

If people think paying a couple of dollars a day is neither here or there then it won't work to reduce congestion as people will just pay it.
If they are serious about reducing congestion then it needs to be up around the $10 to $15 mark.

The thing is , the trains and buses around Auckland are so unreliable . You never know if one is going to turn up or not , specially in the mornings

zephyrheaven, Jul 26, 5:05pm

see the greens opposed the transmission gully project, saying the money would be better spent on trains etc, i dunno what planet they live on but more trains and buses and walking and cycling tracks is not gonna change the fact the the existing road is shit house!

zephyrheaven, Jul 26, 8:02pm
like a whale omelete, now hurry back and tend your excellent bieleiber thread thus

trogedon, Jul 26, 8:15pm
A less than perfect road is a better road if less vehicles are using it.

crosis_nz, Jul 27, 7:48am
Totally sympathise with the OP, however, as a non-jafa, I have to say I am happier with paying a toll when I use an Auckland road, than I am having to fund Auckland congestion by paying petrol tax while I live elsewhere in NZ.
