Is a high end Link

really worth 50hp over factory engine management (1uz-fe)!

The factory tune is very lazy IMO. I am running the factory ECU in my van but have also driven a van with a link and there was a knoticable difference. My van is a high roof LWB model tho and the other was a standed roof LWB

ive heard "its all in the tune" but +50bhp seems a bit high.

A factory ECU is set up as a compromise between economy, emissions, power, driveability and engine life. Yes an aftermarket system (my preference is Autronic) allows you to change this compromise, but you can seldom change one without effecting the rest. Engine tuning 101; there is no free lunch!

Maybe with an exhaust and intake to suit.

desertcolt07, Jul 25, 6:05am
i see what you mean, tune for power and sacrifice economy/drive ability etc, right!

desertcolt07, Jul 25, 6:10am
thinking rush extractors and exhaust to match and itb's on the front.

Makes a huge difference drove a courier van before and after

desertcolt07, Jul 25, 9:26am
and that was the only thing changed!

Best to leave the link until you actually need it.
Getting management and tune doesn't come cheap and is best done after all other mods have been completed so it can be tuned accordingly. You can't just bang a link in and run around on a base tune forever.
Tune, map sensor and G4 extreme will see you parting with around $3500.

yes made a huge difference

desertcolt07, Jul 25, 9:59am
but i cant do it after the itb's because factory ecu runs an AFM.right!

Any one have dyno sheets before and after!
