degrees, then swings under and your foot ends up in mid air, then slams in the ground. Any ideas on a fix for this! (it kinda kills your confidence to put all your weight on it-which is pretty much what you need to do) being a LATE kickstart, the WHOLE lever pivots out from the bottom (as compared to the previous shovels where the lever stays where it is and JUST the PEDAL pivots out). What this one does is it initially pivots OUTWARDS-as indeed it should-so that the lever and peg are available to use, but then at the end of the kick stroke (180 degrees later), that very same pivot now pivots INWARDS and disappears from under your foot as it's basically upside down. I'm new to these engines and wondering if there's a broken stop or similar, and/or if i can fit the earlier shovelhead pedal-type kickstart (which i like the look of more). And, yes, it has electric start, but i want to be able to kickstart it.Thanks a lot for any good, knowledgable advice.

Thanks a lot, i'll check that out. Are you familiar with this exact set up!

p.s i take it that you're refering to an internal spline! (the kickstart lever sits (and drives) on a square on the outside of the transmission).

There's no play in that particular area. I've had another look and it seems there must be something wrong internally which lets lever move about 60 degrees before engaging, and i suspect that then lets it travel too far at the end of the kickstart stroke, therefor travelling so far that the pedal part then pivots inwards, underneath, effectively disappearing from under foot. Any specific experience/knowledge of this system much appreciated. Thanks.

I think the best solution for all of us on this MB would be to take the said shovelhead and apply it forceably to the nether regions of a hornnett whilst swinging a kickstart shaft through 180 degress in the direction of a cranium.
