Well, they are meant to be ensuring that the car is going to be legal for the next six months. so two mills may not satisfy them anyway.
Are you good to them! Take them cakes and stuff!

You can get it post-dated to I think 14 days before the Wof, so say its not due till 3 weeks away, the new WOF will be the date its taken in plus 14 days.

Recommend getting it checked sooner than later if it passes its a bonus and it will be postdated upto 14 days of yourunexpiredsection ,or you fail 28 days to repair

i guess it comes down to how much you value your life ,pretty cheap life equals a couple of tyres.a w.o.f sticker means b/all the car still has to meet w.o.f standards when you drive it,go and talk nicely to a friendly tyre shop and pay them off.

Wof inspection & pass issue applys ONLY to the exact day & TIME of wof pass &iSSUE of the label. As soon as the customer takes control of the vehicle (even if still on the wof's property) the responsibility belongs to the customer.
Ppl have been known to swap tyres on a wof places forecourt after getting a wof

yes it is. Tyre tread has to be a min of 1.5mm at the wof check to pass and they will pass, just wondering if i should get wof next week while they pass and i will have wof money.

A wof is only valid for the time its inspected, later down the track is the owners responsibility.

Tell John to stop being a tight arse and buy new tyres.

What are you buying tyres made of gold! Just grab a pair of second hand tyres for $30 each. If you want new, ain't nothing wrong with Supercats, which will run around $100. When you're on a budget you don't need to be eating champagne and cavier.

too many excuses it is your responsibility to keep your car in good condition, to save on fines and your family safety .the wof is only good for the time it is written and police could pull you over the next day and fine you

English rose If you are really desperate and its a front wheel drive why not simply get a pair of second hand tyres for around $100 fitted. THEN fit the rear tyres on the front and the fronts on the rear. Then at least the car is SAFE on the road untill you can save up the $150 ish a tyre for a new set of four tyres.

When wof's were first introduced, it was about average for a motorist to use 1/8th of an inch of tire wear per year. In light of this, it was decided to make the minimum tyre tread at a wof inspection to be 1/16th of an inch and this was to allow for 6 months running before the tyre was bald in between inspections. The problem is, our rules get twisted over history and mis-interpretation becomes the law, so now 1.5mm is technically bald.

Hence why the tread depths are recorded, thus chucking responsibility straight back on the operator if there is a problem.Remember all WOF's are/should be issued with CARE, Cover Arse Remain Employed!
