Demerit points?

How many before you lose your licence!
How long do they stay on your licence!

100 points in two years (by offence date) and you lose it for 3 months. You're not suspended until the notice is served on you in person.

Which police tend to do during the middle of night at quiet times. Better to hand it in when you know its up. Don't be like the fool at our work who bought new car (updated address details into system) then ends up giving boss two hours notice of not being available for work.

How long do they stay on your license! Anyone know!

The offences will stay on record for ever. A suspension is due to 100 points in 2 years (going by the offence dates). What do you actually mean by "stay on your licence"!

Demerit points expire two years from the date of the offense.

jokerboss, Aug 9, 3:14am
you only acquire the points on the day you PAY the infringement and also I assume will expire 2 years from the same date etc.

smac, Aug 9, 3:15am
Don't assume.

Nope.

The points are indeed added on the day you pay or are found guilty. However, they apply retrospectively from the date of the offense. This is to stop people stalling/waiting until older points have dropped off before adding new ones which would put them over 100.

hint.dont earn them then its not an issue.

suplyuparts, Aug 9, 10:48am
Its base on each offence that it last for 2 years.when you do lose you're licence ,then it's back to zero after time is up.
