got another car few weeks back, the headunit is a kenwood carrozerra double din, has japanese writing on the screen when its on, now most of the time the signal is very poor, can hardly hear the songs etc would this just be a old band expander or is it the headunit!, cars a 99 subaru, like in my town i can only ever get a clear signal on the local station, anything like ZM , the edge is crap, cheers

By pass the Expander and check reception on 88.6, 89.4 etc. this will tell you if it's the antenna or expander (or both!) causing the issue.

It could be the tuner pack inside the stereo too. if it is, new stereo time.
