I was told today by the nissan dealership that only use genuine fluid to replace the stuff in there now (which is genuine) because otherwise it could react. I was under the understanding that all DOT4 is inter compatible but he disagreed. I don't know if he was just trying to sell me the genuine stuff or if he was correct in saying that one brand of DOT4 might react with another brand.
I know silicone stuff is not compatible with standard glycol based but I thought that all DOT4 was able to be mixed. Can anyone shed any light on this subject! I would prefer answers from those with extensive experience in this area thanks.

I have always mixed em as they have always said compatible with others.

Always mixed it and never an issue with dot4.

The only incompatibility I have heard of is to do with the different colours manufacturers add sometimes making other odd colours when mixed.

They say that to cover their asses, make them more money, and adds to any defense they have against a warranty claim.
Dot4 is what it needs, Dot4 is what it gets.
