As it,s not a public track, there won,t be any spectators.

Privately owned but will be hired out to clubs who want to use it so im sure there will be plenty of spectators at main events held.

From what i have read this track can handle F1 and V8 super cars ect so it will be interesting to see who will be using it in the future.

Sorry what I meant was there will be no raceing such as F5000, V8,s. It has been built as a private motorsport facility that anyone can book and use. This from an article in Saturday 25/08/12 Southland Times.

Why would anyone got to the expense of hiring a track of that calibre, if they wernt intending to attract paying spectators to recoup the cost!

Im sure we will see some big race meets held there in the years to come. Why else would you build 48 garages on pit lane.

mate you would be suprised how much money there actualy is floating around out there. A private track day is a lot more common than you realise.

There was a page article in saturdays sothland times, it was very interesting but sorry I don,t know how to put the link up here.

I'm well aware of how many private track days are held. ( I get invited to a few of them)
Still though, no-one in their right mind would build a track of that magantude to soley cater for private track days, unless they were trying to get rid of huge bundles of money.

Unless of course it offers a degree of secrecy to manufacturers wanting to conduct secrect testing - in the same fashion as the winter proving grounds down them ways.
Either way totally awesome to see the possibilities for expanding motorsport in NZ.
